Basketball Game Preview: Anacostia Indians vs. Dunbar Crimson Tide

The Anacostia Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Dunbar Crimson Tide at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Anacostia will be strutting in after a victory while Dunbar will be coming in after a loss.

Anacostia took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Cardozo, posting a 50-17 win.

Anacostia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ta'Shaun Robinson, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 16 points. Robinson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Winter Collins, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, Dunbar faced School Without Walls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Dunbar took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of School Without Walls. The Crimson Tide have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anacostia pushed their record up to 4-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Dunbar, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Anacostia came up short against Dunbar when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 51-38. Can Anacostia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
