Softball Game Preview: China Spring Cougars vs. Gatesville Hornets

The China Spring Cougars will head out to face off against the Gatesville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. China Spring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

China Spring is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lorena just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 6-2 to the Leopards.

China Spring saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Nicole Prestidge also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Gatesville has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.32 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against Robinson, falling 12-5. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly seven runs.

China Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Gatesville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-10-1.

China Spring suffered a grim 22-4 defeat to Gatesville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
