Basketball Recap: Amistad Falls Short of Fitch in the Playoffs

Amistad and Fitch squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Amistad had to settle for second. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fitch Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Falcons are ranked 23rd).

Amistad lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Miguel Chaparro, who posted 19 points and six boards. Those 19 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Takki Oliver, who scored eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Xavier Goode was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten boards for Fitch. Another player making a difference was Si'Kis Reels, who shot 50% from the field en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Amistad's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Fitch, their record is now 14-8.

Amistad does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fitch, they have already played their next matchup, a 71-54 win against East Haven on the 4th.
