Basketball Game Preview: Dighton Hornets vs. Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks

The Dighton Hornets will head out to square off against the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dighton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.

Dighton is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Quinter: they outscored them in every quarter. Dighton came out on top against Quinter by a score of 54-41 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on three straight.

Daniel Cramer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Roemer, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Dighton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quinter only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Wheatland-Grinnell played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 56-21 loss at the hands of Logan/Palco. The Thunderhawks have struggled against Logan/Palco recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Dighton's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Wheatland-Grinnell, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Dighton against Wheatland-Grinnell when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 73-22 victory. In that matchup, Dighton amassed a halftime lead of 54-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
