Baseball Recap: Marlington Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Marlington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Dukes as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Marlington's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tatem Hoffman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI Hoffman has posted since back in April of 2024.

Marlington's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Canton Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marlington will head out to face off against Louisville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canton Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Lake Center Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tiger will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight.
