Basketball Recap: Blount Comes Up Short

Blount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saraland Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 56-51 loss last Monday.

Saraland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raine Lofton led the charge by putting up six points along with ten boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Lofton a new career-high. Shakira Williams was another key player, going 6 for 11 on her way to 16 points.

Blount's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Saraland, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Blount does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Saraland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-37 loss against Murphy on the 5th.
