Recap: Gaffney Indians vs. Union County Yellowjackets
The Gaffney Indians waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Union County 64-49. That's another feather in the cap for Gaffney, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Gaffney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaleb Phillips, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Derek Kennell, who scored 12 points.
Gaffney's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Union County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Gaffney will head out on the road to face off against Christ School at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Christ School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Gaffney likes a good challenge. As for Union County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boiling Springs at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Boiling Springs is ranked 176th, while Union County is ranked 192nd).
