Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Union Lions vs. Millersport Lakers

The Liberty Union Lions will square off against the Millersport Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Liberty Union is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Fairfield Union just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They received a blow as they fell 58-42 to the Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Falcons are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Millersport hadn't done well against Grove City Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Millersport came out on top against Grove City Christian by a score of 62-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

Millersport found their leader in freshman Lilly Atkinson, who went 10 of 21 on her way to 27 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Atkinson a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Raver, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 boards.

Millersport pushed their record up to 7-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Liberty Union, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
