Softball Recap: Palmer Trinity Has No Trouble Against Gulliver Prep

Palmer Trinity's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over the Gulliver Prep Raiders. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Hailey Rodriguez and Emily 'Emmy' Cerda were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Rodriguez pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Cerda didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Rodriguez scored two runs and stole Two bases., while Cerda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Cerda a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Melissa Nieves, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsey Cerda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Palmer Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. Gulliver Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer Trinity will venture away from home to challenge Key West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer Trinity's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Key West's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gulliver Prep, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Somerset Academy South Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Somerset Academy South Homestead's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
