Volleyball Recap: Hilltop Takes a Loss

Hilltop suffered their biggest loss since September 18th on Monday. They lost 3-0 to the Pettisville Blackbirds. The defeat continues a trend for the Cadets in their meetings with the Blackbirds: they've now lost three in a row.

Hilltop was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Brynn Rodriguez paced Hilltop's offense, picking up 14 kills. Rodriguez got some help from Hayden JoHantgen and her 14 assists. Kelsy Connolly controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Pettisville was led to victory by Caroline Sterken and Ashalyn Rice. Sterken had five digs and three aces, while Rice had eight digs. Sterken has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

Hilltop's loss dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Pettisville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Hilltop does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pettisville, they will face off against Kalida at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
