Basketball Recap: Chapel Hill Takes a Loss

If Chapel Hill was riding high fresh off their 58-35 takedown of Douglas County on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chapel Hill Panthers took a hard 47-33 fall against the Alexander Cougars on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Cougars are ranked 96th).

Alexander found their leader in sophomore Nimah Ibidunni, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards set a new season-high mark for Ibidunni. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Italiano, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Chapel Hill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Alexander, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Chapel Hill Panthers duke it out with the Jonesboro Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Alexander, they will be playing at home against New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
