Volleyball Recap: Draughn Comes Up Short at Home Against Alexander Central

Draughn unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Alexander Central Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Draughn sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-10.

Bailey Mozeley paced Draughn's offense, picking up 11 kills. Mozeley got some help from Ashlyn Heavner and her 12 assists. Mozeley was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Coincidentally, Draughn and Alexander Central will both be playing Foard the next time they take the court. The Cougars will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
