Basketball Game Preview: Lake Creek Lions vs. A&M Consolidated Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lake Creek Lions challenge the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Lake Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Lake Creek ended up a good deal behind Huntsville and lost 69-53. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while the Hornets are ranked 214th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caden Puckett, who went 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jeremiah Mcshan was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lake Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, A&M Consolidated can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They skirted past Rudder 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since December 20, 2024.

A&M Consolidated's victory bumped their record up to 11-16-1. As for Lake Creek, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.

Lake Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against A&M Consolidated in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win.
