Baseball Recap: Key West Find Success

The Key West Conchs beat the Dade Christian Warriors 8-3 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Conchs.

Jon Carlos Lampas-Gormley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Key West is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Caden Pichardo was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Xavier Perez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Key West's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Dade Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9.

Coming up, Key West is taking a road trip to face off against Monsignor Pace at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dade Christian, they will look to defend their home field on April 1 against Coral Shores at 2:00 p.m.
