The Liberal Redskins will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on the South Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Liberal is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against North. Liberal blew past North, posting a 70-6 victory on the road. Given the Redskins' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the RedHawks are ranked 192nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Porras, who rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Porras got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 59 yards. Another passer making a difference was Wyatt Mannel, who rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns.

Liberal's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged five passes before it was all said and done. Landon Martinez led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in North's side was Tyren Holmes, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Liberal was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North only rushed for -1.

Meanwhile, South took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down Southeast 34-20.
