Baseball Recap: East Limestone Has No Trouble Against Colbert Heights

East Limestone won the last time they faced Colbert Heights and things went their way on Saturday too. Everything went the East Limestone Indians' way against the Colbert Heights Wildcats as the East Limestone Indians made off with an 11-5 victory. Considering the Indians have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Matthew Drake made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Drake was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other pitching news, Jacob Brooks looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Leyton Coffman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Compton, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for East Limestone and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Colbert Heights, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
