Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. Holy Name Green Wave

The La Salle Lancers will take on the Holy Name Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games La Salle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, La Salle narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Elder 2-1.

Trey Hummel and Presley Baumbach dominated on the mound. Hummel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Baumbach pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hummel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, La Salle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Schroer, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Schroer has posted since back in April of 2024.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Holy Name nor Archbishop McNicholas made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Green Wave had just enough and edged out the Rockets 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Green Wave as they're now sitting on three straight.

Holy Name also got a great performance from Dom Marchetta as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits.

La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.25 runs across that stretch. As for Holy Name, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5.
