Centennial is a perfect 10-0 against Gadsden since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hawks will welcome the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Mayfield, who was ranked 18th at the time (Centennial was ranked 15th). The Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trojans 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Cole Alons, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Marquez, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Gadsden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Las Cruces. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.

Centennial's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Gadsden, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1.

Centennial took their victory against Gadsden when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
