Baseball Recap: Deming Gets the Win

Deming posted their closest win since March 5th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Cathedral Fighting Irish 10-9. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Fighting Irish on Friday, they had to take a 10-6 loss.

Jose Duran was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Mosier, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Deming kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Deming has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Cathedral, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-8-1 record.

Deming has already played their next contest, a 10-1 win against Chaparral on the 15th. As for Cathedral, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nolan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
