It was a good run, but Lawrence Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 76-66 to the Portage Indians.

Lawrence Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nizyi Davis, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. Caden Dooley was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Michael Wellman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Portage, going 6 of 9 on his way to 24 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Wellman has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Wellman, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Lawrence Central now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Portage, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Lawrence Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-58 victory against Bloomington North on the 2nd. As for Portage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-57 defeat against Fort Wayne Wayne on the 3rd.
