It was a Battle of the Birds when Los Altos faced off against Sequoia on Saturday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Ravens 8-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kai MacQuiddy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Quinn Chiochios was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emmett Heath, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Los Altos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequoia only managed seven hits.
Homestead couldn't beat Piedmont Hills on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 11-10. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 5-1 in the first period.
Andrew Sun made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Logan Christianson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Homestead dropped their record down to 11-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Los Altos, their record now sits at 18-7.
Homestead's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Los Altos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Homestead, though, as they've only averaged .248. Will they be able to contain Los Altos' hitters?
Los Altos skirted past Homestead 6-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
