The Caroline Cavaliers will face off against the Riverbend Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Caroline 2.4, Riverbend 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Caroline fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Spotsylvania on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost six in a row.

Jaidyn Tingen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Ava Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nya Howard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Riverbend waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 8-5.
Like Caroline, Riverbend also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe King. She struck out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. King was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Norah Clark was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Isa Barber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Riverbend was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Having lost for the first time this season, Caroline fell to 4-1. As for Riverbend, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Caroline's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Cavaliers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Riverbend, though, as they've been averaging only 0.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Caroline continue to outrun the ball?
