Recap: Green Mountain Rams vs. Pomona Panthers

You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Green Mountain Rams's strategy against the Pomona Panthers on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Green Mountain blew the Panthers out of the water with a 81-37 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-22.

Blake Weslin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Beeson, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Calvan Wickstrom, who scored six points along with six rebounds. Gabe Aranda was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Green Mountain now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Pomona, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green Mountain will take on the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Rams are ranked 102nd). As for Pomona, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Evergreen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Panthers likes a good challenge.
