Football Game Preview: Lift for Life Academy Hawks vs. Father Tolton

Lift for Life Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to take on Father Tolton at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lift for Life Academy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points last Friday, then bounced right back against Murphysboro on Friday. The Hawks walked away with a 46-34 win over the Red Devils. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 38th in Missouri, while the Red Devils are ranked 288th in Illinois) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lift for Life Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jay'Veon Scott out in front who rushed for 102 yards and two TDs on only seven carries. The Hawks are undefeated when Scott posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Isaiah, who threw for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lift for Life Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 219 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Father Tolton hadn't done well against St. Francis Borgia recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Father Tolton narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past St. Francis Borgia 24-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Father Tolton has posted since October 25, 2024.

Lift for Life Academy better keep an eye on Dominik Abadi. He was instrumental in Father Tolton's win, rushing for 93 yards and one score, while also throwing for 176 yards and one TD. What's more, Abadi racked up 112.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Lift for Life Academy's record now sits at 4-2. As for Father Tolton, their record is now 5-1.
