Basketball Game Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Doherty Spartans

Fountain-Fort Carson hasn't had much luck against Doherty recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will host the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m.

Fountain-Fort Carson is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game on Monday. They came up short against Rampart, falling 57-35. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Rams are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Doherty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They took down Rampart 83-69 on Saturday.

Fountain-Fort Carson better keep an eye on Elijah Mack. He was instrumental in Doherty's win, going 11 for 16 to rack up 26 points along with seven assists and five boards. That's the most assists Mack has posted since back in February of 2024. Javar Harrison was another key player, going 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Doherty pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.5% in those games and 27% outside of them. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

Fountain-Fort Carson lost to Doherty at home by a decisive 77-60 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mack, who almost dropped a double-double with 32 points and nine boards.
