Soccer Game Preview: Cosby vs. Herndon

The Cosby Titans will square off against the Herndon Hornets at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Cosby is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Battlefield get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory was nothing new for Cosby as they're now sitting on five straight.

Meanwhile, Herndon had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wolverines. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Herndon's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while West Potomac are ranked 63rd).

Herndon's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five games. As for Cosby, their win bumped their record up to 14-3-3.

Cosby took their victory against Herndon in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
