Softball Recap: Cocoa Beach Comes Up Short

Cocoa Beach lost against Astronaut back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Cocoa Beach came up short against Astronaut, falling 12-6. The Minutemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zoe Vella spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and nine unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cocoa Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Fair, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cocoa Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Astronaut, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cocoa Beach will face off against Windermere Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Astronaut, they will challenge Space Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Astronaut's pitchers better be ready for this one: Space Coast has averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
