Baseball Game Preview: Borah Lions vs. Owyhee Storm

Borah is 0-6 against Owyhee since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will host the Storm at 6:30 p.m.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Borah nor Mountain View made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Lions came up short against the Mavericks, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since May 8, 2024.

Brady Robinson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Owyhee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Boise on Thursday as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Owyhee also got a great performance from Bryce Tam as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gage Haws, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Cade Walker was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Owyhee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Owyhee pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average this season. As for Borah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.
