Baseball Game Preview: Williston-Elko Blue Devils vs. Clear Dot Charter Bats

The Williston-Elko Blue Devils will square off against the Clear Dot Charter Bats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Dot Charter took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Williston-Elko, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Williston-Elko was able to grind out a solid victory over North, taking the game 9-5.

Brice Thigpen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Thigpen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Williston-Elko is undefeated when Thigpen posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Chase Creech was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Williston-Elko's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Mason Craig also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Clear Dot Charter fell victim to Branchville and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Yellow Jackets.

Williston-Elko's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Clear Dot Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Williston-Elko got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Clear Dot Charter by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Bats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
