Basketball Recap: Woodcrest Christian Comes Up Short

Woodcrest Christian saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They fell 40-33 to the Newbury Park Adventist Gators. The contest marked the Royals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Woodcrest Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Madden Anderson posted 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Milton, who had four points and six steals.

Woodcrest Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Newbury Park Adventist, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

The future could be bright for both Woodcrest Christian and Newbury Park Adventist: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Woodcrest Christian will try to hand Aquinas their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Meanwhile, Newbury Park Adventist will try to hand Redlands Adventist Academy their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
