Softball Recap: Eagan Wildcats vs. Farmington Tigers

It was a proper cat-fight when Eagan duked it out with Farmington on Wednesday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Tigers two weeks ago, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

Jocelyn McClary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Barry was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Isla Loewblosser was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eagan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Eagan and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Farmington, with the loss, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagan will head out to face off against Academy of Holy Angels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Farmington, they will venture away from home to take on Shakopee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
