Baseball Game Preview: O'Fallon Panthers vs. Mascoutah Indians

The O'Fallon Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Mascoutah Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. O'Fallon will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, O'Fallon was able to grind out a solid victory over Granite City, taking the game 7-2.

Kaleb Weber looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That hit was his first of the season.

At the plate, Camden Cox was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sam McCollum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Mascoutah put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. Everything went their way against Belleville West as they made off with a 7-0 win. The Indians have beaten the Maroons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Maroons has come to flipping the script.

Mascoutah pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for O'Fallon, their record now sits at 9-1.

O'Fallon couldn't quite finish off Mascoutah when the teams last played back in May of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
