Two dominant signal callers in Keaton Johnson and Jaxon Schad are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The College Station Cougars will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Weiss Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when College Station took on Lockhart on Friday. The Cougars took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-14 victory over the Lions. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won five games in a row.

It was another big night for Trey Walton, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 39 receiving yards and one score. He has become a key player for College Station: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise. Zak Cosser was another key player, gaining 37 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: College Station was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 199 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.
College Station's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zahron Benford, Cole Flanagan, and Zan Stevens, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Weiss against Lockhart two weeks ago as the squad secured a 54-3 victory. With the Wolves ahead 47-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Weiss' win came from a few key players College Station will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tre Moore, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. He is also on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Ibn Anderson-El, who picked up 53 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Weiss' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for College Station, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. College Station has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 235.7 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Weiss has preferred to attack from the air: they average 313.4 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
College Station didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Weiss when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory.
