Basketball Recap: Thales Academy Apex Skates Past Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Thales Academy Apex on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Lion out of the water with a 56-20 final score. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Lion are ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Thales Academy Apex's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Maass, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. Maass' evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kate Sproul was another key player, putting up 17 points and eight steals.

Thales Academy Apex was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Several Lion players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Claire Schutte, who posted two points and 21 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Belle Heinrich, who put up seven points.

Thales Academy Apex's record now sits at 7-4. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
