The Satellite Scorpions will square off against the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Lake Highland Prep will be up against a hot Satellite team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Scorpions' pitchers stepped up to hand Wheaton Academy a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Scorpions have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Michael Faucher tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Satellite got a massive performance out of Brandon Reiter, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brady Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Satellite lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Highland Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Windermere Prep 12-2 on Thursday. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Alex Khalil was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Jones, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Satellite pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Lake Highland Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Satellite has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Highland Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts.
