Basketball Recap: Deer Park Comes Up Short

Deer Park played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Medfield Warriors 65-31. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 337th in Texas, while the Warriors are ranked second in Massachusetts).

Deer Park's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emily Ripley, who posted seven points and five rebounds, and Kendall Shelton, who put up five points. The dominant performance also gave Ripley a new career-high in assists (three).

This is the second loss in a row for Deer Park and nudges their season record down to 11-12. As for Medfield, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer Park will venture away from home to square off against Brazoswood at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Medfield, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will take on Millis at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
