Softball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Commerce's offense. They came up short against the Hughes Springs Mustangs on Tuesday, falling 16-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Commerce saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamdyn Mills, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Mills is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Hughes Springs, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Commerce is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Daingerfield at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday. Commerce's pitchers better be ready for this one: Daingerfield has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Hughes Springs, they will take on Timpson at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
