Football Game Preview: Mountain View Prep Stars vs. Union County Yellowjackets

Mountain View Prep is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will welcome the Union County Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Mountain View Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Union County likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Mountain View Prep against Anderson C as the team secured a 51-6 victory. Fans of the Stars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Mak Anderson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 41 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 173 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jemo Stinson, who rushed for 61 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Mountain View Prep, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kadarus Hainsworth, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Union County's offense. They were outmatched by Clinton and fell 60-0. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Mountain View Prep, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Mountain View Prep against Union County when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-7 victory. In that matchup, the Stars amassed a halftime lead of 24-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
