Preview: Kennedy Eagles vs. Derby Red Raiders
The Kennedy Eagles will be playing at home against the Derby Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Kennedy's five-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end two weeks ago. They snuck past Torrington with a 34-28 victory.
Meanwhile, Derby humbled St. Paul Catholic with a 56-22 victory. The result was nothing new for Derby, who have now won three games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Bryan Mclean continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 261 yards and five touchdowns on only 11 carries. Mclean's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Titus, who picked up 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Kennedy to 1-4 and Derby to 3-3.
Everything came up roses for Kennedy against Derby when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 51-20 win. Will Kennedy repeat their success, or does Derby have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
