Softball Preview: Clinton Redwolves vs. Dundee Vikings

The Clinton Redwolves will head out to take on the Dundee Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Clinton got the win against Blissfield by a conclusive 17-1.

Taryn Hernandez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hernandez was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Clinton got a massive performance out of Kylinn Long, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Calli Kruger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

Clinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blissfield only posted an OBP of .429.

Meanwhile, Dundee narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brighton 14-13.

Kiernan Brown was incredible, going 4-for-6 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Marek, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Clinton skirted past Dundee 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
