Softball Recap: Grand County Triumphs

Grand County's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They blew past the Provo Bulldogs 12-2. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Chloe Byrd was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Ali Butterfield was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Abby Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Grand County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Grand County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Provo, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Grand County has already played their next game, an 8-1 defeat against Enterprise on the 10th. As for Provo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-6 loss against Timpview on the 10th.
