Softball Game Preview: Newport Wildcats vs. Bellevue Tigers

Newport is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bellevue Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Newport comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Newport challenged Calvary Christian on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost 19-4 to the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Bellevue came up short against Highlands on Wednesday, falling 19-3. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Bluebirds recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayda Dowell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Bellevue, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Newport might still be hurting after the 19-5 defeat they got from Bellevue in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
