Softball Recap: Westwood Takes a Loss

Westwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pascack Hills on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 7-6. The Cardinals' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Ella Ianni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Grace O'Dell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tina Celenza, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Westwood now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Pascack Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Westwood will square off against Bergenfield at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pascack Hills, they will face off against New Milford at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
