Preview: Peoria Panthers vs. Yuma Catholic Shamrocks

Two dominant backs in Javon Bell and Tayt Ford are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Peoria Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peoria is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, while Peoria put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for Carl Hayden Community. Peoria took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 55-0 victory over Carl Hayden Community. Peoria might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Peoria can attribute much of their success to Dominic Kramer, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and Bell, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Bell has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Another big playmaker for Peoria was Dontay Tyson jr, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Yuma Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Northwest Christian with points to spare, taking the game 24-10.

Ford was his usual excellent self, rushing for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Ford hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.

Their wins bumped Peoria to 6-4 and Yuma Catholic to 10-0.

Peoria took a serious blow against Yuma Catholic in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 49-8. Thankfully for Peoria, Richard Stallworth (who threw for 387 yards and five touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
