Basketball Game Preview: West Columbus Vikings vs. East Bladen Eagles

West Columbus hasn't had much luck against East Bladen recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The West Columbus Vikings will square off against the East Bladen Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

West Columbus is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Heide Trask, falling 47-23.

Alaina Spencer was West Columbus' leading scorer, having posted seven points. Demya Powell held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, East Bladen came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Stallions, posting a 61-9 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Stallions are ranked 534th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for East Bladen, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

West Columbus was taken down by East Bladen 58-17 in their previous matchup last Wednesday. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Columbus was down 40-12.
