Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Coyotes vs. Gaither Cowboys

The Cypress Creek Coyotes and the Gaither Cowboys will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.

Cypress Creek saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Boone by a score of 30-27.

Cypress Creek's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ameeya Steadham, who posted eight points and eight rebounds, and Deslynn Nickell, who put up six points along with nine boards and six steals. Nickell has become a key player for Cypress Creek: the team is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Zeledon, who had four points.

Meanwhile, Gaither beat Land O' Lakes 39-32 on Friday.

Gaither's win came from a few key players Cypress Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Riley Russell, who posted 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Carolyn Emanuel, who put up six points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Gaither smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Land O' Lakes only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Gaither is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
