Basketball Game Preview: Cleveland Heights Tigers vs. Brush Arcs

The Cleveland Heights Tigers will face off against the Brush Arcs at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. One thing working in Cleveland Heights' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, Cleveland Heights earned a 63-50 victory over Shaker Heights. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 413th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cleveland Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayquan Stubbs led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Stubbs is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Carter Armstrong, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Brush didn't have quite enough to beat Maple Heights two weeks ago and fell 59-56. The Arcs haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Cleveland Heights is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Brush, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Cleveland Heights didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Brush in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-62 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cleveland Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
