Football Recap: Bogue Chitto Takes Down Richton in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Bogue Chitto rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over the Richton Rebels. The win was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Jayden Poole was his usual excellent self, rushing for 155 yards and five touchdowns, while also picking up 70 receiving yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended three passes.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bogue Chitto's defensive line and their four sacks. Richton's QB won't forget Javis Gibson anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Gibson also made four total tackles, which is notable because Bogue Chitto is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 2-3 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Richton lost, don't look at B.J. Brown. Despite the final result, he picked up 67 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 99 yards on only nine carries.

Bogue Chitto's record is now 8-3. As for Richton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Bogue Chitto didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 36-8 defeat against Leake County on the 14th. Richton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
