Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over the Sterne Dolphins on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Phoenix, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Sterne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Andrew Jones dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Those 13 points gave Jones a new career-high. Smith Trimble was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Marshall and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Sterne, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Marshall will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against City Arts and Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Sterne, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-45 win against Kirby Prep on the 14th.
