Volleyball Recap: Washburn Comes Up Short

Washburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chequamegon Screaming Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Castle Guards of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Washburn was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by exactly two points. The final score came out to 27-25, 28-26.

Among those leading the charge was Abagail Brenholt, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Washburn's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Chequamegon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Washburn will face off against Mellen at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th. As for Chequamegon, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Crandon on the 2nd.
